About Us
The beginning
It all started a few years ago with an idea and the construction of a first prototype in the garage at home. The first prototypes were made of metal, my father Heinrich's favorite material.
"Too much cut off?" or "Doesn't fit!"
"Never mind, let's weld it again!"
Were probably the wisdom of a passionate mechanical engineer.
They had become robust and fulfilling their purpose, but they did not have a good balance between dead weight and transport weight.
And so the first ones had to be in the garage for a few years to wait for their breakthrough.
The founding idea
A good idea alone is not enough, I had to realize that at the time. And so, more by chance and years later, a team with similar interests, experiences and a common vision was found.
So the basic idea was finally pulled out of the drawer again and developed further. The result was a prototype, which encouraged us to have taken the right path.
Engineered down to the last screw, using the latest
manufacturing techniques and extensive test drives.
And then there it was, the first BERKEL TRAILER.
The thought behind it
Versatile, suitable for everyday use, resilient, chic, we could find many more words to describe our all-rounders. Simply sophisticated.
But what is behind it? Just leave the car.
A errand trip by bike without restrictions, reaching the hobby where no car can go, a sociable bike tour with friends.
If you think about it, the list of possibilities should never end.
"Go green" , emission-free and sustainable, the Berkel trailer should now find its way.
The name Berkel trailer
In western Münsterland and right on the border to our Dutch friends, the river the "Berkel" flows through idyllic forest areas such as the "Teufelsschlucht" and the "Bockwinkel" and fills our "Berkelsee" in Vreden before making its way through the Netherlands to in find the North Sea.
As a bicycle - stronghold - Vreden along the European cycle path R1 and through
Nature reserves like the "Zwillbrocker Venn" should be the birthplace of the Berkel trailer here in Vreden.
What is important to us?
For us, the "DU" is not a rude form of address, but a sign of closeness to our customers. Only tomorrow's customers and creative ideas allow our product range to grow. We want to react flexibly to the market and our customers' wishes. If "YOU" have a great idea or a special request, talk to us.
